June 4, 2010 Manila – After all the work of a busy week Bibo packed his backpack and went on an Antique road trip to witness one of the best weddings of 2010.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. JS Wilce Rey!
Destination: Kalibo, Aklan and Pandan, Antique

NAIA 3 Manila to Kalibo Aklan
Bibo arrived early in the airport and check-in his skim gear. He followed the usual FX (20Php), MRT (15Php) and NAIA bus (20Php) mode of transport from Quezon City to the airport.
This is the first time he brought 2 bags in a trip. One is the backpack and the other is the skim.
A backpacker learning during the trip is the “folder technique” for barong, long pants or other important clothes. Since the rolled muffin technique is not applicable for such clothes, we need a stable flat support to hold the cloth in place. After placing it in a folder, you can place it on the laptop area of your bag.

There is a standard terminal fee of 200Php in NAIA terminal 3. As of June 2009, Air fare to Kalibo costs 1080 Php via Air Philippines Express (http://www.airphilexpress.com/).

With nothing to do, Bibo indulge into Zombie farm, music trip, virtual pet and was able to master the trick of getting a snapshot of his phone from holding the Home button and power button.

The 4-row seat 50 seater Q300 Bombardier plane finally arrived and passengers boarded. Bibo noticed he was seated along a familiar public figure. Realized it was SAMYG of Magic 89.9 Radio with his HOT girlfriend. He later found out from his friend Morris from a text that it was the Brazilian model/host Diana Menezes from Eat Bulaga. HOT!

Kalibo Airport to Prado Residence, Pastrano, Kalibo, Aklan

Flight 2P KLO 81 arrived in Kalibo airport 27 minutes ahead of schedule. Passengers like Bibo waited for his skims to be checked out and preceded to the terminal for transport.
Tricycle drivers in Kalibo would regularly ask 100Php from the airport to any point in Kalibo town. However, Bibo is aware that regular fare is only 10Php from the airport area. He bargained and got a special trip for 50Php from Kalibo airport to Andok’s Restaurant in Roxas St. He had a quarter slice of lechon manok (grilled chicken) lunch for 61 Php.
Another discover from Andok’s Kalibo is the buttered and egg Bibingka. Delicious at 49 Php!
Bibo met his college classmate and barkada Gaylord and was introduced to his girlfriend Faye Faustino. They walked 2 blocks to Gaylord’s house and had a chat. Conversations from introductions, to college and to love histories were discussed. It was nice meeting Gaylord’s girlfriend. She is very nice, pretty and young. :)
Bibo and GL had “Tinolang manok” and fried fish for dinner, compliments from the ever kind and accommodating Manang’ Susan. He met her a year ago while Bibo was doing a detour in Kalibo from the Boracay 2009 trip with HP friends.
There is a short rosary prayer every 8:30 in the evening. The Prado family is very religious.
Goofing around they played with the skim board at night and watched Roland Garros 2010 where Rafael Nadal bullied Jurgen Melzer 6-2, 6-3, 7-6.
Sleep.

Kalibo, Aklan to Pandan, Antique
June 5, 2010 – The Prado residence is two blocks away from the city Bus terminal. It’s very easy to go north and south of Kalibo from their location. The Boracay terminal is just a block away.
Bibo carried his ‘barong’ with cover and umbrella then went to the terminal to ride a mini bus to Pandan Antique for 70 Php.
The wedding is scheduled at 3PM. He arrived at 12 noon in Pandan, Antique with a transport time of one hour and twenty five (25) minutes. Bibo went around the Pandan area which has big park, a city hall, activity center and a church. The town is very clean and green. The city hall, park and activity center were literally colored by light olive green paint.
The groom was very nice to fetch Bibo from the church to his mansion. He was offered lunch and ate “Menudo” and “Adobo”. He is thankful to JS and Jane for their hospitality.
The Rey Residence and Beach in Pandan Antique

The Rey residence is a very pretty house colored with a light orange paint and a block away from the beach.
The beach has small rocks and you can feel the cold breeze of the habagat from the shoreline even at noon. No flat skims here.

There were many preparations in the house and Bibo obliged to take a few pictures to document some of things that occurred.

It was then that he met more friends like Sammy, Father Edwin, Gideon and Paula. Paula is the “bride’s dog” and she also has a dress tailored for the wedding.
The wedding in Church of Saints, Pandan Antique
The Rey-Condez wedding started 3:30 PM with everyone very excited. Jane was very pretty as ever and JS had always been so perfect for Jane. They look very happy together.
The bride’s father was teary eyed and happy as the couple exchanged their vows in holy matrimony. All their friends and relatives can feel the joy and happiness the two will bring upon the divine sacrament of marriage.

The homily focused on the importance of marriage and commends the couple’s courage to choose and be united in front of the Blessed Sacrament. There were stories shared by the priest but Bibo did not understand as it was in “Aklanon” language and he just laughed along the stories with others.
It was very good to see table tennis team members Sonny Gabutero and Helene “Jing” Diaz again in the wedding. AMACU friends Analyn, Agnes and Kat were there to be bride’s maid. JS’ sister Lalai was the maid of honor and JS’ cousin was the best man.

Wedding Reception at Condez Residence in Pandan, Antique
The wedding reception is very organized, clean and “Curtainy” as defined by Sonny as there were very lots of curtains covering areas and provided a good background of the reception hall turned garden.
They made a small hallway to the dining area with bamboo pillars and white/blue curtains. People were excited as the bride and groom entered the hall.
Bibo was seated in the children’s table. We had a nice buffet dinner and he was able to bond with Jane’s youngest brother Dodong and his cousin Yakee.

There was a short program with message from the bride and groom’s parents and their relatives. Sonny and Jing said their blessing and messages to the newly wed couple.
After the program there was an open bar party with free flowing mixed hard drinks and beer. Bibo was able to meet more friends like the 3 EON photographers Rage, Glen and Jen.
They said that the party lasted until 5AM in the morning. Bibo slept 1AM after 6 bottles. He promised to go back to Kalibo early to have their Boracay 2010 skim trip with Gaylord and Faye.
Pandan Antique to Tabas, Aklan to Kalibo Aklan
There are only a number of trips from Pandan Antique to Kalibo, Aklan. The best way to reach Kalibo is by Tabas, Aklan where you can ride along bus trips from Caticlan (Boracay) to Kalibo, Aklan.
Woke up 6 in the morning and got a trip from Pandan Antique to Tabas, Aklan for 20 Php. He then took a van from Tabas, Aklan to Kalibo Aklan for 65 Php.
Arrived in the Prado residence in Kalibo and Manang Susan prepared the delicious chorizo I asked. Thanks Manang.
Woke up Gaylord and we headed for our Boracay 2010 skim trip.
Till the next road trip!
