Puerto Prinsesa is the capital of Palawan, Philippines. It boasts beautiful white beaches, hot springs, and the famous subterranean cave that features a spectacular limestone landscape in its 7 km underground river.

A flight from Manila to Puerto Prinsesa will take an hour and 15 minutes. As of 2010, regular rate at Cebu pacific would cost 3, xxx.xx Php. Book in advance during seat sale to avail the 50% discount. I am in no relation to the Cebu pacific company or some sort.

Puerto Prinsesa Airport
The airport is small and modern located near the Puerto Prinsesa main known as Rizal Avenue.


They have well lit and a number of hotel and tourist assistance tables are available in the arrival cluster building. You will notice that the prices of different tours available in the city are set to a standard. They have a medium sized parking lot in front of the Airport buildings.

Distinct feature: They have a tail light of a real car. Some even had BMW car tail lights in them.

Puerto Prinsesa Provincial Capitol
The capitol is shaped like a mosque. This is to symbolize peace and prosperity between the Muslims and Catholics residing in Palawan.

The Puerto Prinsesa Cathedral
This church is called Immaculate Conception Cathedral. It is colored light blue and the structure would remind people of the pink Baguio Cathedral.


You can find a Jose Rizal statue and basketball court near the entrance of the church.

Plaza Cuartel
Plaza Cuartel is an old fortification area of Japanese troops that lies on the left side of the Puerto Prinsesa Cathedral. It serves as a Memorial Park in honor of local heroes, and American soldiers.


In a monument inside the park writes “143 American soldiers were burned inside a tunnel during the World War II.”

Balinsasayaw Restaurant
Balinsasayaw Restaurant is where you can eat the famous Balinsasayaw soup.

Balinsasayaw is a bird known to make nest out of their saliva. They say that eating a little soup has healing effects.

Kinabuch
Kinabuch Restaurant is where you can eat the Palawan exotic food “Tamilok” or wood worm.


They say it tastes like oyster. I disagree. It tastes like mud. :)


The food are reasonable and tasty. The grilled chicken is a must try too.

The dining area is wide and the lights are amazing. They have this big projected screen that shows Star Sports near the parking area.

Ka Lui
Ka Lui is the most famous restaurant in Puerto Princesa. It is a must visit place among tourists.


It is made of native wooden house. Its floor is clean and well-polished. Costumers have the choice of sitting down on regular tables and chairs or sitting down on pillows strewn on mats laid down on their shiny bamboo floor.


Expect to walk around the area barefoot as all costumers are required to leave their footwear on the stoop.


They offer a wide variety of menu which depends on the fresh catch of the day.

Badjao Restaurant


Badjao restaurant is the famous restaurant in Puerto Prinsesa that is located near the sea. Enjoy the delicious seafood while watching the sun set and feeling the cold breeze of the ocean.

Rizal Avenue
Rizal Avenue is the main road going and out of Palawan. You can find big LCD screens along the main road.

Puerto Prinsesa Boulevard


The Puerto Prinsesa Boulevard is one of the most visited areas for locals and tourists.
It boasts a long stretch of clean paved road with an open area for biking and kite flying. Colorful street lights and other designs illuminate the boulevard at night. Food carts are available near the boulevard but no restaurants.


People say that the area was once a squatters ground and the old residents were given lots in the city as a relocation initiative.


The project is around 95% completed. There are still areas that are not cemented.

A small carnival is located near the boulevard for playing games.

Lola Itang’s Inn and Restaurant
Lola Itang Pension House and Restaurant is located near the Puerto Prinsesa Boulevard. It was built as a memoir of the owners’ grandmother. It is managed by one of lola Itang’s granddaughter Ms. Meggy Austria. She designed and made their website http://www.lolaitang.com/.

There are a lot of hotels and pension houses in Puerto Prinsesa. An advantage of taking this place is its affordability and location. They have standard air conditioned rooms at 800Php. The place is only 2 blocks away from the New City Boulevard, plaza cartel and cathedral.
